《渺生》的身體探索聚焦於「牽亡歌陣」儀式中單人與雙人的「螺旋」動能,以低限、簡約、重複的路徑,傳遞身體/靈魂/宇宙的重力和引力。在極簡的運動當中,《渺生》的身體也象徵著能量與意識的通道,流轉無限與渺小的時間切片,探索多重宇宙的宇宙觀與生死觀。
Moving in a minimalistic way, the body in An Eternity Before and After also symbolises the channel of energy and consciousness, like an endless flow of infinite and insignificant fragments of time to explore the life and death of multiple universes.

田野「牽亡歌陣」的系列之作
Based on the fieldwork on the folk ritual
《渺生》為壞鞋子自民間田野採集「牽亡歌陣」的系列作品,一號作品《彩虹的盡頭》(2016) 轉譯台灣傳統葬儀文化「牽亡歌陣」的儀式,探索人死亡之後的靈魂旅程。
An Eternity Before and After belongs to the series developed from the fieldwork on the folk ritual of khan-bông-kua (a song-and-dance ritual to guide them to another world). The series began with the Taishin award-nominated The End of the Rainbow (2016), a translation of the folk ritual to visualise the post-life journey of the soul, while An Eternity Before and After continues the quest but addresses the universe with further issues related to existence, life, and death.

The Existence between/in Life and Death
《渺生》持續想像一種身體的整體性,涵括著泛靈與身體;當這兩個光譜重疊時,時間與空間是否能出現立體的維度,衝破線性時間感的身體與空間將會現身。
《渺生》的服裝材質選用「可溶性布料」,藉由材質的過渡性,象徵著可見的時間流變。舞者藉由作品的運動過程,汗水逐漸使服裝融化褪去,化為身體的一部分,隨著表演者舞動的時間呼吸、共存。

The costume in this piece is made of dissolvable fabric, and its intermediary nature can be read as a metaphor for the passage of time. Throughout the performance, the clothes will be dissolved by the dancers’ sweat to become a part of their bodies, breathe with their movement and coexist with the dance.
